Allah delays marriage for some people not out of neglect or punishment but out of a wisdom that human eyes genuinely struggle to see clearly while standing inside the waiting period itself, and scholars consistently remind us that Allah's timing operates on a completely different scale to our own impatience and emotional urgency. Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah taught that Allah sometimes withholds something from a person because He is preparing either the person themselves or the circumstances around them to be genuinely ready for what He has planned, meaning the delay is protective rather than punishing. The delay could be shielding you from a marriage that would have caused real harm, building qualities in you that your future spouse will genuinely need, or simply aligning two people whose paths have not yet naturally crossed despite both trying sincerely. Scholars also note that the pain of waiting sincerely for halal marriage while guarding yourself carries its own tremendous reward with Allah, meaning the struggle itself is never wasted even when it feels invisible and unacknowledged.
